CIB becomes first private bank to offer notary services through Justice Ministry deal

Egypt's Justice Ministry and Commercial International Bank signed a cooperation protocol to open notary offices inside CIB branches. The agreement aims to make notary services easier for customers and improve how they are delivered. The signing took place on October 12, 2026, at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
The protocol was signed on Monday, 12 October 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Justice Ministry's New Administrative Capital headquarters. Attendees included Justice Minister Mahmoud Helmy El-Sherif, CIB CEO and board member Hisham Ezz Al-Arab, and Central Bank Deputy Governor Mohamed Shaaban, along with advisers and bank leaders.
For the ministry, Hisham Abdel Meguid, assistant minister for real estate publicity and notarization, signed; for CIB, legal sector head Mahmoud Abbas signed. The bank framed the step as part of institutional modernization, digital transformation, and closer links between government and banking services, with branches helping widen access to notarization.
If implemented, placing notary offices in bank branches may reduce travel and waiting for customers, especially those already using CIB. It could make routine documentation more convenient and link banking visits with official paperwork. The arrangement may also encourage other banks or agencies to consider similar service integration, though access could depend on branch locations and eligibility.
