Nothing Begins Stable Nothing OS 5.0 Release for Phone (3), With More Devices Coming

Nothing started the stable rollout of Nothing OS 5.0, based on Android 17, for the Nothing Phone (3) on October 12, 2026. Ten Nothing and CMF phones are eligible, and the remaining stable releases are expected between November 2026 and January 2027. The update adds a redesigned interface, new personalization options, and Essential AI improvements, while Phone (1), Phone (2), and CMF Phone 1 are excluded.
Nothing's stable channel is now live for Phone (3), while the Open Beta remains a pre-release testing path. The company's timetable places most other eligible models in November, with later windows in December and January. Availability is phased, so region and carrier can affect timing.
The update pairs interface changes—such as revised icons, layout adjustments, wallpaper-based colors, transparent widgets and a Micrographics clock—with Android 17 additions like split notification and Quick Settings panels, QR-based Quick Share, stronger privacy controls, expanded dark theme and a new Recents view. Phone (1), Phone (2) and CMF Phone 1 are not included.
The rollout may mainly affect current Nothing and CMF owners deciding whether to upgrade or wait, as newer models gain Android 17 features while older ones remain on prior software. This could widen feature gaps within the same brand and shape user expectations around support length. It may also influence purchasing choices, as buyers weigh update schedules and AI/interface changes alongside hardware.
