Google unveils Fitbit Edge fitness tracker with week-long battery

Google has officially announced the Fitbit Edge, a fitness tracker that sits between the Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 5. It has a 46 percent larger OLED display than the Charge 6, a physical side button, a replaceable battery rated for about a week, and fast charging that provides a day of use in five minutes. Health features include an EKG sensor for atrial fibrillation detection, skin temperature, SpO2, and optical heart rate sensors, plus IP68 dust and water resistance.
Google positions the Fitbit Edge between its Air tracker and Pixel Watch 5, aiming at users who want notifications without a full smartwatch. Compared with the Charge 6, it has a 46 percent larger OLED screen, a side button, and a slightly thicker 11.5mm body. Its replaceable battery lasts roughly a week, or about two days with always-on display, and a five-minute charge yields around one day; full charge takes 90 minutes.
Health sensors include EKG for AFib detection, skin temperature, SpO2, and optical heart rate, plus motion tracking. It is IP68 and swim-safe to 5ATM. It omits mic, speaker, and NFC, so no wrist calls or contactless payments. Priced at $179.99 with three months Google Health Premium. Improved auto workout tracking and GPS, turn-by-turn directions.
