Jennie and Kevin Parker Discuss the Surprise Origins of Their ‘Dracula’ Remix

Blackpink’s Jennie and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker teamed up for a remix of “Dracula” that became one of the year’s biggest songs, with nearly a billion streams and a Top 10 Billboard debut. The two met by chance in Seoul and later performed the track together at Boston’s TD Garden. In their interview, they discuss the collaboration, its viral TikTok success, and their shared musical interests.
The pair first crossed paths late one night at a below-ground Seoul restaurant and bar. A mutual acquaintance, PR executive Peter Utz, helped connect them; Parker had praised Jennie’s voice and asked whether she might join the track. She received the message soon after and agreed right away.
The remix arrived in February, following the original’s inclusion on Tame Impala’s Deadbeat. It has drawn close to a billion on-demand streams worldwide, given both acts their first Billboard Hot 100 top-10 entry, and powered a TikTok trend tied to 1.3 million clips. They later shared the stage at Boston’s TD Garden.
This collaboration may show how chance meetings and viral platforms can connect K-pop and alternative/psychedelic pop audiences, potentially expanding listeners for both artists. Fans could encounter new genres through TikTok and arena performances, while labels and promoters may increasingly pursue cross-market pairings. The song’s scale also highlights how a single remix can reshape career milestones, though its broader cultural staying power remains uncertain.
