Cristian Castro to Get Billboard Lifetime Achievement Honor at 2026 Latin Music Awards
Cristian Castro will receive the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards. He will also perform at the Oct. 22 ceremony at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, which will air live on Telemundo and Peacock. The Mexican pop singer has had a career spanning more than three decades, including six No. 1s on Hot Latin Songs.
Cristian Castro's recognition adds to a chart history that started in 1992, when "No Podrás" reached No. 3 on Hot Latin Songs. His first album, Agua Nueva, peaked at No. 2 on Top Latin Pop Albums in January 1993. He later collected six Hot Latin Songs No. 1s, including "Nunca Voy a Olvidarte," "Amor" and "Azul."
His 2011 tribute to José José, Viva El Príncipe, topped Top Latin Albums for seven weeks. With over 12 million records sold, he continues touring Nada Solo Éxitos, including Mexico City's Auditorio Nacional and New York's Madison Square Garden. The Oct. 22 Miami ceremony will also honor Rubén Blades, Rosalía and Fuerza Regida.
The honor could raise Castro's profile among younger listeners while giving longtime fans a shared moment around his romantic-pop catalog. A live Telemundo and Peacock broadcast may extend that reach across the U.S. and Latin America, possibly driving streaming, ticket, and media interest. It may also highlight how awards shows balance nostalgia with current Latin music stars, affecting artists, audiences, and the broader entertainment marketplace.
