Fitbit Edge offers a slimmer alternative to Google's bulky Pixel Watch
Google announced the $180 Fitbit Edge, a smartwatch with a slim display and touchscreen. At 11.5 mm thick, it is thinner than the Pixel Watch 5 but not as thin as some competing watches. The device resembles the Fitbit Charge 6 and adds workout and progress tracking beyond what a screenless band offers.
Google's $180 Fitbit Edge is a touchscreen wearable measuring 11.5 mm thick. That makes it slimmer than the 12.3 mm Pixel Watch 5, though thicker than the 8.6 mm Galaxy Watch and Apple's 9.7 mm Series watches. It echoes the Fitbit Charge 6, which is 11.2 mm thick and shares a display, but adds a side button for workouts and menu choices.
Battery life reaches seven days when always-on display is off, falling to two days when it is on. Google says sleep tracking is 15% better. The Edge uses a hybrid OLED screen with Gorilla Glass 3, syncs phone texts, Maps, and notifications, and is Google's first repairable Fitbit. It costs $20 more than the Charge 6.
The Fitbit Edge may appeal to people who want health and workout tracking without a bulky watch, including exercisers, sleep trackers, and everyday users. Its slimmer design and side button could make wrist wear more comfortable, while repairability may extend device life and reduce e-waste. At $180, though, cost-conscious buyers might weigh whether modest upgrades over older Fitbit models justify the price. Its success could pressure rivals to prioritize comfort, battery life, and repairability.
