Stellar Keeps Fees Minimal During Record-Breaking Transaction Day

On October 11, Stellar processed about 12 million transactions, or 139.15 per second, while its average fee was just $0.00012, according to Chainspect. The network's Protocol 28 update, also called the Adapter update, includes CAP 83 to improve settlement speed during peak demand. Stellar also saw a rise in tokenized asset values.
Stellar's October 11 activity combined roughly 12 million transactions with an average fee of $0.00012, according to Chainspect. That equaled about 139.15 transactions per second and marked the week's busiest day, with no typical weekend lull.
The network's Protocol 28, or Adapter, update adds CAP 83. This lets validators begin voting before they have full transaction data, reducing disruption from delayed or invalid transactions. Stellar's tokenized real-world asset value also grew from $300 million in January 2025 to $3.54 billion, helped by Franklin Templeton's BENJI and WisdomTree funds.
Stellar's low-cost, high-volume processing could make small payments and remittances more practical for users in areas where fees matter, while businesses issuing tokenized assets may find cheaper settlement. If such performance holds during demand spikes, it may encourage broader experimentation with tokenized funds and real-world assets. However, network capacity and asset growth do not guarantee adoption, and risks around market volatility or operational reliance may still affect participants.
