MSI Codex R2 RTX 5070 Gaming Desktop Falls to $1,449 at Walmart
Walmart is selling the MSI Codex R2 Intel Edition gaming PC for $1,449 with free shipping for a limited time. The system pairs an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F processor with an RTX 5070 12GB GPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The RTX 5070 is positioned as a strong option for 1080p and 1440p gaming, with enough power for many 4K titles.
Walmart's limited-time offer lists the MSI Codex R2 Intel Edition at $1,449, down from $1,799, with free delivery and direct Walmart fulfillment rather than a third-party seller. Inside are an air-cooled 20-core Intel Core Ultra 7 265F boosting to 5.3GHz, an RTX 5070 with 12GB, 16GB DDR5 memory, a 1TB M.2 SSD, and a 750W power supply.
The RTX 5070 is presented as a leading Nvidia option for 1080p and 1440p play, while still handling many 4K games. It reportedly edges past the RTX 4070 Super, with larger gains in titles using DLSS 4.5 multi-frame generation. The card alone typically lists around $600, though market prices often run higher.
Deals like this may make high-refresh 1440p gaming more accessible to players who prefer prebuilt convenience, potentially influencing upgrade decisions among older GPU owners. Retailers and component sellers could face pressure to match pricing, while budget-conscious buyers may compare it with DIY builds. It may also sustain demand for DLSS-supported titles, though broader impact depends on availability, regional pricing, and whether similar discounts continue.
