Ripple Partners with Meritz Securities to Bring Digital Assets to South Korean Brokerage

Ripple announced a strategic partnership with Meritz Securities, its first with a South Korean securities firm and fourth in the country this year. The companies will explore integrating digital asset services into Meritz’s securities operations, including Ripple’s custody and tokenization platforms. Meritz is also evaluating spot crypto ETFs, security tokens, fractional investments, and won-pegged stablecoins as regulations develop.
Ripple’s tie-up with Meritz Securities is its first involving a South Korean brokerage and its fourth partnership in that country this year. The firms intend to study adding digital asset capabilities to Meritz’s current securities business, with Meritz assessing Ripple’s custody and tokenization tools for safe asset holding, movement, and settlement.
Meritz is also reviewing possible offerings such as spot crypto ETFs, security tokens, fractional investment products, digital asset trading, and stablecoins linked to the Korean won. Any rollout would follow South Korean rules and could widen as regulations evolve. Ripple Custody is designed for regulated institutions seeking custody and transfer support without constructing their own systems.
If the partnership advances, South Korean investors and institutions could gain more regulated ways to access digital assets through a familiar brokerage. Custody and tokenization tools may improve asset safekeeping and settlement, while products under review, such as tokenized securities or won-linked stablecoins, could broaden participation. However, outcomes depend on regulatory clarity, market conditions, and consumer safeguards. The move may also encourage other local financial firms to assess similar infrastructure, potentially normalizing digital assets in mainstream finance while raising questions about risk management and investor protection.
