Interactive Brokers Introduces Ethereum Staking for Qualified Customers

Interactive Brokers has begun offering Ethereum staking to eligible customers through its Client Portal, with ZeroHash supplying the infrastructure. Rewards are paid in additional staked ETH and may compound, but they are not guaranteed and depend on network conditions; the brokerage did not disclose rates or fees. The service is limited to Ethereum for now and varies by affiliate and residence, expanding Interactive Brokers’ existing crypto trading and stablecoin funding options.
Interactive Brokers now lets qualifying account holders stake Ethereum through its Client Portal. Users can initiate or end staking and follow pending requests via a dashboard. ZeroHash supplies the underlying service. The rollout covers only Ethereum, and access hinges on the affiliate handling the account and the client’s residence.
Any payouts vary with network conditions and are not assured. They arrive as extra staked ETH and may compound while staked. The firm did not reveal a rate, ZeroHash’s fee, or plans for other proof-of-stake assets. CEO Milan Galik likened the feature to the firm’s Stock Yield Enhancement Program. Interactive Brokers already supports 20 digital assets, stablecoin deposits in USDC, RLUSD and PYUSD, and external wallet transfers.
This move could make Ethereum staking more accessible to brokerage clients who prefer regulated platforms, potentially drawing more mainstream investors into network validation rewards. It may also concentrate staking among a few service providers, raising questions about network decentralization and custody risk. Customers in eligible jurisdictions might gain a new way to earn on idle crypto, while others remain excluded. Overall, impact may be gradual, depending on adoption, fees, and regulatory treatment.
