CCC Shares Climb on Reported Late-Stage Takeover Interest

CCC Intelligent Solutions shares rose 8.1% to $7.59 after reports that GTCR and Elliott Investment Management were in late-stage negotiations to acquire the auto insurance software company. Copart, which had previously been linked to CCC, instead agreed to buy ACV Auctions for about $1.9 billion. CCC generated $255 million in free cash flow in fiscal 2025, and analysts expect revenue to grow roughly 9% annually through 2028, with its valuation still below its five-year average.
CCC Intelligent Solutions jumped 8.1% on October 12 to $7.59 after Bloomberg reported GTCR and Elliott were in late-stage talks to buy the auto-insurance software company. A deal could be announced within a week, though no final agreement was confirmed and another suitor might still appear.
Copart, once mentioned as a possible CCC buyer, instead agreed to purchase ACV Auctions for roughly $1.9 billion. CCC’s fiscal 2025 free cash flow was $255 million, and revenue is projected to grow about 9% annually through 2028. Its forward earnings multiple remains below its five-year average.
A takeover of CCC could affect insurers, repair shops, and drivers who rely on its claims and repair software. If private-equity owners push for cost cuts or higher prices, service quality and innovation may shift, though they could also fund upgrades. Employees may face restructuring, while customers might see changed contract terms. Copart’s separate deal may signal more consolidation in automotive technology, potentially altering competition. These outcomes remain uncertain until a confirmed offer and regulatory review occur.
