Nothing OS 5 Update Adds AI Features and Sets Rollout Schedule

Nothing has announced Nothing OS 5, based on Android 17, with new AI features, interface changes, and system optimizations. The update includes a refreshed home screen, a new clock design, expanded Glyph Interface customization, and Essential Space tools for transcribing voice notes, organizing screenshots, and extracting action points. The rollout is scheduled from October 2026 to January 2027, starting with the Nothing Phone (3), while the CMF Phone 2 Pro is listed for January 2027.
Nothing OS 5 builds on Android 17 and targets Nothing and CMF handsets. Its interface refresh includes a redesigned home screen, a new clock, transparent widgets, smoother animations, and broader Glyph Interface controls, plus a Glyph Timer widget and updated Bluetooth settings.
The AI-focused Essential Space can transcribe and summarize voice notes, sort screenshots, and pull out action points. The rollout is set from October 2026 through January 2027. The Nothing Phone (3) reportedly received it on October 12, 2026, while the CMF Phone 2 Pro is listed for January 2027.
The update may affect Nothing and CMF users by changing daily navigation, customization, and note/screenshot workflows. AI transcription and action extraction could save time for students, professionals, and creators, though accuracy and privacy expectations may shape trust. A staged rollout could create uneven access, with newer models receiving features earlier. Broader Android 17 adoption may also pressure other manufacturers to match AI-assisted productivity tools.
