Jason Statham again plays Adam Clay in Amazon MGM Studios’ teaser for The Beekeeper 2, released Thursday. The plot centers on a covert intelligence outfit called the Beekeepers, which seeks influence over the U.S. government and eliminates opponents. Jeremy Irons returns as Wallace Westwyld, who equips Clay with a 1969 Dodge Super Bee fitted with a machine gun; Clay also wields a flamethrower.
Timo Tjahjanto directs the sequel, set for theaters Jan. 15, 2027. David Ayer directed the 2024 original, which earned more than $160 million worldwide. Returning cast includes Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave. Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff and Adam Copeland join. Kurt Wimmer and Zak Penn wrote the screenplay from Wimmer’s story and characters.
The trailer may boost interest in the sequel and Statham’s action brand, potentially benefiting theaters, Amazon MGM, cast and crew. Audiences who enjoy revenge thrillers could be drawn to its weapons and spy plot, while the 2027 release date may shape scheduling for competing films. Its depiction of a secret group targeting government could spark discussion about fictional portrayals of institutional distrust, though as entertainment its direct social effect is likely limited.
