Iberdrola battery project cleared in Gran Canaria; TDI finances Romanian solar; Solaria plans Uruguay data centre with solar

Iberdrola received environmental approval for the 42.17 MWh Marzagan battery storage project in Telde, Gran Canaria, backed by a €3.74 million EU grant. TDI Renewables closed €25.5 million in financing from Raiffeisen Bank International for a 58 MWp solar project in Arad County, Romania. Solaria signed an agreement with Uruguay to develop a data centre campus of up to 500 MW supported by as much as 350 MW of solar generation.
Iberdrola's Gran Canaria approval covers a lithium iron phosphate battery site of about 4,408 square metres, linked underground at 20 kV to the existing Marzagan substation. The environmental clearance, published October 15, lasts four years; the project also has a €3.74 million NextGenerationEU grant.
TDI Renewables' €25.5 million loan from Raiffeisen Bank International supports its 58 MWp Iratosu solar farm in Arad County. Vlasceanu & Partners advised on financing, while Ameresco Sunel Energy was earlier named construction contractor. Solaria's Uruguay plan pairs up to 350 MW of solar with a 500 MW data centre campus, with UTE supplying land and buying power under a PPA of up to 40 years.
These developments could affect local communities in different ways. Gran Canaria residents may see improved grid flexibility from storage, while construction and operation could bring limited local employment. Romania's solar financing may support regional clean-power supply and rural economic activity. In Uruguay, a large data-centre campus paired with solar could attract digital investment, but may also raise questions about land use, electricity demand, and how benefits are shared with utility customers.
