Tidal grant, fuel merger, and electrolyser deal lead renewables roundup

Minesto has been chosen for a proposed €20.2 million EU Innovation Fund award to support a 10 MW tidal project in Ireland, with the grant covering about 60% of investment and final signing expected in early 2027. XCF Global closed an all-stock combination with Southern Energy Renewables and DevvStream, creating a company active in sustainable aviation fuel, biomass conversion, and environmental asset management. Stargate Hydrogen will provide replacement electrolyser stacks and services for more than 400 Cummins HySTAT systems installed in 65 countries.
Minesto’s proposed €20.2 million Innovation Fund award would back a 10 MW tidal farm in Ireland and cover about 60% of investment; the grant is not yet contractually final, with signing targeted for Q1 2027. Its underwater kites are designed for lower-velocity currents, and the firm also operates in Sweden, Wales, the Faroe Islands and Taiwan.
XCF Global closed an all-stock combination with Southern Energy Renewables and DevvStream on October 16, adding aviation-fuel production, biomass conversion and environmental-asset management. Former Southern and DevvStream holders own about 20% and 10.43%, respectively. Stargate Hydrogen will provide substitute electrolyser stacks and maintenance support for over 400 Cummins HySTAT systems across 65 countries.
The tidal grant could give Ireland a small but visible marine-energy project, potentially benefiting coastal communities and local supply chains while testing whether such technology can lower long-term electricity costs. The XCF merger may affect investors, fuel buyers and biomass suppliers as the combined firm pursues aviation-fuel and environmental markets. Stargate’s aftermarket role could help operators in 65 countries keep hydrogen equipment running, though actual social benefits depend on costs, reliability and emissions performance.
