Nel Hydrogen wins $12 million order for PEM electrolysers
Nel Hydrogen US, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, has received a purchase order worth about $12 million from a US-based global technology company for multiple containerised PEM electrolysers and related services. The electrolyser stacks will be produced at Nel's Wallingford, Connecticut facility, with delivery expected in 2027. The article also notes an earlier $7 million order from Mesure Process and prior orders in Norway.
Nel Hydrogen US, part of Nel ASA, booked an approximately $12 million order from a U.S.-based global technology firm. The deal covers several containerized MC-series PEM electrolysers and associated services. Manufacturing of the electrolyser stacks is set for Wallingford, Connecticut, with handover anticipated in 2027.
Previously, in April 2026, the company won a $7 million order from Mesure Process for containerized PEM electrolyser equipment tied to European hydrogen projects. Those units are intended to generate fully renewable hydrogen for mobility refueling stations and industrial export uses. In November 2025, it also secured a firm Norwegian order from Kaupanes Hydrogen AS and HyFuel AS, with Hydrogen Solutions AS developing both projects alongside co-owners.
The order could help sustain specialized manufacturing work in Connecticut and support suppliers tied to electrolyser production. If the equipment is used as described, it may expand availability of renewable hydrogen for transport refueling and industrial buyers in Europe and Norway. That could affect project developers, station operators, and nearby communities through industrial activity and emissions-related changes, though actual outcomes depend on deployment, power sources, and demand.
