MF+Arquitetos completes timber-clad Casa Celeiro in Minas Gerais

MF+Arquitetos has completed Casa Celeiro, a 1,108-square-metre house on a reservoir in Delfinópolis, Minas Gerais. The design uses two right-angled pavilions, with a long timber roof structure creating shaded verandas around five bedrooms and a vaulted living area. The lower level opens toward the water.
Casa Celeiro sits on a reservoir shore in Delfinópolis, Minas Gerais, and measures about 1,108 square metres. Its plan pairs two right-angled pavilions: an upper timber-roofed barn-like volume and a lower, partly sunken public level.
The upper pavilion’s glued-laminated timber frame extends beyond the rooms to form shaded verandas around five ensuite bedrooms and a full-height central living space. Below, the kitchen and living area open through three sliding glass walls to a pool terrace; the lower roof is planted, and rough stone steps link the levels.
Projects like Casa Celeiro may influence how architects and clients in Brazil approach large waterfront homes, potentially encouraging timber structures, shaded verandas and planted roofs as ways to soften visual and environmental presence. Local builders, landscape teams and suppliers of engineered timber could see new demand, while nearby residents and reservoir users may experience changed views and access. Its high cost and size mean lessons about passive shading and gradual landscape transitions could remain limited to affluent commissions unless adapted more broadly.
