Public Bitcoin holders back in the black after price rebound

With Bitcoin above $80,000, 172 tracked public companies holding about 1.27 million BTC show aggregate unrealized gains of roughly $10.2 billion, or 11.1%. Strategy alone holds about 848,500 BTC at an average cost near $76,084, putting its gain around 11.4%. Despite the rebound, the anticipated wave of new corporate buying has not appeared.
Among 172 public companies tracked as Bitcoin reserve holders, combined holdings are about 1.27 million coins, roughly 6% of the total supply and near $107 billion in late October 2026. Cost figures cover 101 of those firms, which spent about $92.6 billion; the group’s average purchase price is around $76,300 per coin.
Strategy accounts for about 848,500 BTC—around two-thirds of the tracked total and roughly 4% of all Bitcoin that will exist—with an average cost near $76,084. Metaplanet’s ~44,000 BTC at ~$88,551 remains below water, while MARA’s ~35,600 BTC shows an ~18% gain.
The shift back to unrealized gains could affect shareholders and employees of Bitcoin-heavy firms, whose share prices and financing options may respond to the improved numbers. It may also shape how other companies view crypto treasuries, though the absence of fresh large-scale buying suggests caution. Wider society could feel indirect effects through market volatility and crypto-linked investment products, but exposure remains concentrated among a relatively small group of companies and their investors.
