Russian missile and drone barrage kills at least nine across Ukraine

Russian attacks over the past day killed at least nine people and injured dozens across Ukraine, with Kyiv hit by a large overnight missile and drone assault. In Kyiv, ballistic missiles struck transport and medical infrastructure in several waves, killing one person and injuring 24 others, according to city authorities. Ukraine's Air Force reported 210 drones and multiple missile types in the attack and said air defenses downed 181 drones.
Across the past day, officials counted at least nine deaths and 56 injuries nationwide. Kyiv’s overnight assault involved ballistic missiles hitting transport and medical sites in repeated waves; one person died and 24 were hurt there. Ukraine’s Air Force said the strike package included Iskander-M, S-400, Zircon and Onyx missiles plus 210 drones, 110 jet-powered.
Air defenses intercepted 181 drones, 87 jet-powered, while impacts occurred at 32 sites and falling debris at eight more. Regional reports listed deaths and injuries in Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Chernihiv, where Banderol drones twice hit an enterprise and a separate drone set agricultural buildings ablaze in Semenivka.
The strikes could deepen daily disruption for residents in Kyiv and affected regional communities, especially patients and workers reliant on damaged medical and transport sites. Injuries and deaths may strain local hospitals and emergency services, while repeated drone and missile alerts could heighten anxiety and interrupt work, schooling and sleep. Families of victims and people near impact sites may face bereavement, displacement or property damage, with effects likely uneven across regions.
