Solid-state battery lines, Swedish solar progress, and Spanish hybrid PPA

Saft opened solid-state battery production lines in France, claiming higher energy density and lower emissions from part of the manufacturing process. Alstra Energy completed mechanical installation of two Swedish solar projects totaling 101 MW. Encavis signed a 60 GWh annual hybrid solar and wind power purchase agreement in Spain.
Saft’s new Bordeaux lines can make cells with sulfide and polymer solid electrolytes at room temperature. The company says energy density may reach 50% above conventional lithium-ion, while its dry-electrode step could cut CO2 emissions from that stage by as much as 40%. Initial semi-solid cells went to Safran for aerospace evaluation.
Alstra Energy finished mechanical installation on 101 MW of Swedish solar: 54 MW Wingfield in Vingåker and 47 MW Gaslight in Götene, built for Commerz Real. Cold commissioning is underway, with grid connection planned for November 2026 and February 2027. Encavis also agreed a 3.5-year, 60 GWh annual hybrid solar-wind PPA in Spain with Visalia.
The battery investment could affect aerospace and advanced-manufacturing workers and suppliers, while lower-emission production may matter to nearby communities. Sweden’s projects may add local construction and grid-related activity and, once energised, more utility-scale solar output. Encavis’s hybrid PPA may help balance supply for an electricity company serving urban installations, potentially supporting more stable renewable procurement. These effects remain uncertain and depend on commissioning, grid connection, and commercial operation.
