Google Cloud adds OpenAI models for business customers with data-use limits

Google Cloud is offering OpenAI models, including GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna, to selected business customers in a private preview. Customers can buy access through Google Cloud Marketplace, receive one invoice, and apply usage toward cloud spending commitments and Flexible Savings Plans. Google says prompts, context, and outputs stay within designated data boundaries and are not used to train foundation models.
Google Cloud’s private preview gives chosen enterprise users access to three OpenAI models: GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna. Purchases run through Google Cloud Marketplace, appear on one invoice, and can count toward cloud spending commitments and Flexible Savings Plans, which reduce token prices in return for monthly commitments.
Preview customers can call the models through Google Cloud APIs. Developers may link local Codex CLI and Codex Desktop workflows to Gemini platform inference, with Google Cloud handling requests. Google also plans zero data retention, Confidential Compute protections, and later availability in Gemini for business and Google Antigravity.
The arrangement could affect enterprises seeking rival AI models within existing cloud contracts, potentially simplifying procurement and oversight. Developers may gain more model choices, while end users could be affected by how companies set access, logging, and retention rules. Because Google states that inputs, surrounding context, and generated results remain inside specified data limits and are excluded from foundation-model training, organizations may feel more able to test sensitive workflows, though they still need internal controls.
