Bondada wins EPC contract for 120 MWh flow battery in Gujarat

Bondada Engineering has received a letter of intent from Gujarat Industries Power Company for a 20 MW/120 MWh vanadium redox flow battery storage project. The contract covers engineering, procurement and construction plus 10 years of maintenance at GIPCL’s natural gas plant complex in Vadodara, with completion targeted for 18 months after award. Bondada also recently reported debt financing for a 225 MW solar project and an EPC order for a 270 MWp solar plant in Maharashtra.
Bondada Engineering has been selected by Gujarat Industries Power Company for a 20 MW/120 MWh vanadium redox flow battery at GIPCL's 165 MW gas-based complex in Vadodara. The assignment covers design, purchasing and construction, plus ten years of running and upkeep; completion is targeted 18 months after the award notice.
Bondada's other recent work includes a Rs 9.11 billion State Bank of India debt package for its Onix IPP subsidiary's 225 MW solar IPP, and a Rs 11.54 billion contract to build a 270 MWp ground-mounted solar plant at multiple Maharashtra sites.
The project may affect Gujarat's electricity system by adding storage at an existing gas site, potentially helping balance supply and support more renewable generation. Local construction workers, maintenance staff and equipment suppliers could see contract opportunities, while nearby communities and power users may experience changes in grid reliability and emissions depending on how the battery is operated. These effects are uncertain and would unfold over the project's construction and ten-year maintenance period.
