Sahaj Solar plans Gujarat battery storage factory with 1.8 GWh capacity

Sahaj Solar's board has cleared a plan to build a battery energy storage manufacturing plant in Dakor, Gujarat, designed for 1.8 GWh of output and storage. The Ahmedabad-based solar equipment maker expects to finish the project in about a year and will spend roughly Rs 250 million, not counting the existing factory building. Debt and internal funds will finance the expansion.
Sahaj Solar’s board has authorized a battery energy storage manufacturing site in Dakor, Gujarat. The planned facility is sized for 1.8 GWh of production and storage and is expected to be completed in about a year. The estimated outlay is roughly Rs 250 million, excluding the factory building already in place, with debt and internal funds covering the cost.
The Ahmedabad-based firm also produces PV and CPV modules, supplies project services for solar plants, and offers solar water pumps, heaters, street lights, and rooftop systems.
The proposed factory could create construction and manufacturing jobs in and around Dakor and may support local suppliers. If it reaches operation, added domestic battery-storage capacity could help solar project developers and grid operators manage variable renewable output, potentially improving reliability for electricity users. The investment is modest, so its wider effect may depend on timely completion and actual use.
