Franklin Templeton Registers Funds That Turn Stock Dividends Into Bitcoin Exposure

Franklin Templeton has filed for two exchange-traded funds that pair U.S. stock holdings with Bitcoin-linked investments. Each portfolio is designed to keep 95% in equities and 5% in Bitcoin-related assets, while routing regular and special dividends into Bitcoin exposure after record dates. The asset manager already offers a spot Bitcoin ETF, EZBC, which has drawn roughly $335 million in net inflows.
Franklin Templeton, which oversees about $1.8 trillion, has registered the Franklin US Equity Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF and the Franklin US Innovation Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF. Both are structured to hold 95% U.S. stocks and 5% Bitcoin-linked holdings, rather than simply mirroring Bitcoin’s price.
Their dividend process directs both routine and special payouts into Bitcoin-linked assets one trading session after the record date. This differs from a standard reinvestment plan that buys more shares of the same stock. The firm’s existing spot Bitcoin ETF, EZBC, has gathered about $335 million in net inflows.
This product could affect retail and institutional investors by making Bitcoin exposure available through familiar equity ETF accounts, potentially simplifying access but also adding volatility and complexity. Financial advisers may need to explain dividend-linked crypto exposure and tax or reporting implications. Broader society may see further blending of digital assets with retirement and brokerage portfolios, which could increase crypto market participation while raising concerns about suitability for less experienced investors.
