Zelensky Reports Battlefield Progress in Lyman Sector
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian forces made important gains in the Lyman axis under Operation Vivaldi. He cited Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi’s report that Ukrainian units killed or wounded about 10,660 Russian troops this week. Ukrainian intelligence also warns Russia may mobilize 300,000 additional troops after State Duma elections.
Zelensky said the Lyman results came under an operation called Vivaldi, with a separate active-defense effort by air-assault units. He credited a briefing from Ukraine’s commander-in-chief, Mykhailo Drapatyi, for the weekly figure of roughly 10,660 Russian troops killed or wounded. Kyiv Post noted it had no independent confirmation of the casualty count.
Donetsk remains central because Moscow seeks the remainder of Donbas, made up of Donetsk and Luhansk. Ukraine’s General Staff counted 221 clashes, including 26 Russian attacks around Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka and 12 near Lyman. Fighting is also reported in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy.
The reported gains and casualty claims may shape morale among Ukrainian troops and civilians, while families in Donetsk’s front-line communities could face continued displacement and danger. If Russia moves toward another large mobilization after State Duma elections, more Russian households may confront deployment pressures, and Ukraine’s military and civilian support systems could face added strain.
