SECI opens bidding for 1,200 MW of ISTS-connected wind capacity
SECI has issued a request for selection for 1,200 MW of inter-state transmission system-connected wind projects under Tranche-XXI. The projects will follow a build-own-operate model, with developers responsible for land, installation, grid connectivity and transmission infrastructure up to the interconnection point. Bids are due October 29, 2026, with individual bid sizes between 50 MW and 600 MW and a 25-year PPA planned for selected developers.
The tender could draw developers and financiers into India’s wind sector, potentially expanding clean generation and grid infrastructure. Landowners, construction workers, and equipment suppliers may see new activity. Electricity users might benefit if added capacity supports supply, though outcomes depend on execution, transmission readiness, and competitive tariffs. Local communities could experience both opportunities and disruptions during construction and operation.
