At New York Comic Con 2026, the Naruto panel introduced two projects. The first is a manga called Shadow Rising, with Masashi Kishimoto attached; beyond that title and his role, specifics remain unannounced. A teaser indicated further updates would come at Jump Festa 2027's Naruto Super Stage.
The second is Naruto x Ninku, a crossover anime. Koji Kiriyama and Kishimoto supervise, Noriyuki Abe directs, and Tetsuya Nishio handles character design and chief animation direction. Its premise sends Team 7 to another world after Kakashi assigns them a mission, where they encounter Fūsuke. No release date has been given.
The announcements could reignite interest among longtime Naruto fans while introducing Ninku to newer viewers. Publishers, streamers, and merchandise partners may see renewed engagement around both franchises. The live-action film update could also keep anticipation alive, though its actual social impact may depend on release timing and how faithfully the adaptation is received.
