Egypt plans unified digital system to regularize land in new cities

Egypt's housing minister chaired a fourth meeting on regularizing land status in new cities, focusing on processing citizen applications and delivering contracts. Officials reviewed progress for about 139,000 feddans added to six new cities, including Sheikh Zayed, New Sphinx, Shorouk, New Obour, 6th of October, and New October. The meeting also examined a proposed unified electronic platform that would guide applicants from submission through allocation.
The fourth review was led by Housing Minister Randa El-Manshawy and included senior ministry officials, the New Urban Communities Authority, and heads of six cities: Sheikh Zayed, New Sphinx, Shorouk, New Obour, 6th of October, and New October. Discussions covered application processing, contract handover, and steps to resolve pending cases faster.
Officials examined roughly 139,000 feddans added across those cities, along with expected and collected financial returns. A proposed single electronic system was presented, outlining how applicants would move from filing a request through allocation. Utility and infrastructure work tied to the regularized land was also reviewed.
The move could affect residents and landowners in these new cities, especially those awaiting legal recognition or contracts. Faster processing may reduce uncertainty and make property use, transfer, or financing easier. It may also support coordinated infrastructure and planning, though outcomes could depend on implementation capacity and how consistently rules are applied.
