Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Boxed Release Requires a Download

Forza Horizon 6 will get a physical PS5 disc when it launches on 26th January. The release still requires a download, similar to other Microsoft games, and the disc may mainly act as a launcher. The game is expected to take up around 150GB, close to the Xbox Series X|S version.
Playground has confirmed a boxed PS5 edition of Forza Horizon 6 for 26th January. The package will still need an online download, and it is not yet known how much of the game will sit on the Blu-ray. Like other Xbox Game Studios titles, the disc may serve mostly as a launcher.
The Xbox Series X|S version occupies nearly 150GB, and the PS5 build is expected to be similar. Since standard PlayStation discs hold roughly 100GB, fitting everything on one disc would not be possible. This comes as Sony prepares to end disc production and as some players reconsider Game Key Discs.
This may affect PS5 owners who prefer physical media, collectors, and players with limited internet or data caps. A boxed copy that still requires a large download could reduce the practical benefits of buying a disc, such as resale, lending, or installing without broadband. It may also shape expectations for other Microsoft releases on PlayStation, as publishers continue to treat discs as launchers rather than complete offline products.
