OnePlus Details ColorOS 17 Rollout and Supported Devices

OnePlus has detailed ColorOS 17, its Android 17-based software release, and named which handsets can install it. The update adds AI photo editing and AI face-swap detection, along with interface changes such as floating island notifications and a transparent clock widget. The OnePlus 16 is slated to ship with ColorOS 17 preinstalled and may arrive in India around November 2026.
OnePlus has tied ColorOS 17 to Android 17 and identified which OnePlus devices can install it. The rollout order places the OnePlus 15 first, while the OnePlus 16 is expected to ship with the software already loaded and may reach India around November 2026.
The release follows a broader BBK Electronics software consolidation. Oppo, Realme, and OnePlus intend to use Oppo’s ColorOS across devices, uniting their research and development work. ColorOS 17 also brings a reworked control center, floating-island-style notifications, a see-through clock widget, and a glassy interface direction.
ColorOS 17’s AI photo tools and face-swap detection could affect everyday OnePlus users, content creators, and people concerned about manipulated media. Easier editing may simplify sharing, while detection features may help users spot synthetic images or videos. A unified ColorOS across BBK brands may make updates more consistent, though it could also reduce the distinct software identities some users prefer. The timing of rollout and device eligibility may shape upgrade expectations.
