Sunsure Energy to Supply Solar Power to Evonith Steel Under Long-Term Deal
Sunsure Energy has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Evonith Steel for a 30 MWp commercial and industrial renewable energy project serving Evonith Steel’s manufacturing operations in Wardha, Maharashtra. Supply is expected to begin in October from Sunsure Energy’s operational 120 MWp solar facility in Dhule and is projected to offset about 34,700 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Earlier in 2026, Sunsure Energy signed a round-the-clock renewable power PPA with Kajaria Ceramics and secured Rs 2.62 billion in debt financing for a 75 MWp open access solar project in Tamil Nadu.
Under the agreement, Evonith Steel’s Wardha manufacturing site will receive electricity from Sunsure’s existing 120 MWp solar plant in Dhule, with deliveries slated to start in October. The 30 MWp arrangement is described as a commercial and industrial renewable project, and its estimated annual emissions reduction is about 34,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
Elsewhere in 2026, Sunsure reached a round-the-clock renewable power deal with Kajaria Ceramics for its Rajasthan facilities in Gailpur and Alwar. In July, the company obtained Rs 2.62 billion in debt from FMO and Axis Bank for a 75 MWp open-access solar project at Ilayangudi, Tamil Nadu.
The deal may help Evonith Steel lower its purchased electricity emissions and exposure to fuel-price swings, while supporting cleaner generation in Maharashtra. Local communities near Dhule could see continued operation of existing solar capacity, though direct employment effects are likely limited. For Sunsure, the contract may strengthen its commercial and industrial customer base and signal demand for long-term renewable supply, potentially encouraging similar procurement by other manufacturers.
