Telangana agency invites bids for 800 MW of wind capacity
TGREDCO, acting for Telangana discoms, has invited developers to build 800 MW of wind projects across India on a build-own-operate basis through tariff-based competitive bidding. Individual bids must be between 50 MW and 400 MW, and online submissions are due by October 22, 2026. The selected developers will handle land, approvals, transmission infrastructure, and grid connectivity, while using turbine models approved by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
TGREDCO, representing Telangana’s distribution companies, seeks developers for 800 MW of wind generation anywhere in India. The build-own-operate contracts will be awarded through competitive tariff bidding, with each offer covering 50 MW to 400 MW. Submissions close online on October 22, 2026.
Winners must arrange land, permits, transmission works, and grid links at their own expense. They must use MNRE-listed turbine models, install GPS weather stations, and meet grid and cybersecurity rules. Bidders declare capacity utilisation factor, adjustable within limits, and must satisfy net-worth, liquidity, processing-fee, and deposit requirements.
If built, the tender could add wind generation to Telangana’s supply mix, potentially improving diversification and supporting cleaner electricity. Developers and suppliers may see new contracting opportunities, while landowners and nearby communities could gain lease or employment income. Transmission upgrades and project siting may also affect local areas. Consumers could benefit if competitive bidding helps contain power costs, though outcomes depend on execution, grid readiness, and actual wind availability.
