Russian Missiles Hit Ukrainian Water and Polymer Firms in Overnight Barrage

Russian ballistic missiles struck the facilities of Ukrainian water purification company Ecosoft and polymer manufacturer Planeta Plastic overnight on Oct. 18-19. The attack was part of a broader barrage that included 16 missiles and more than 200 drones aimed at Ukrainian infrastructure and energy sites, and it also damaged a shopping center in Kyiv.
Ecosoft, part of Austria’s Best Water Technology group since 2018, makes water treatment and purification systems. Its Irpin plant and finished-goods warehouse were destroyed during the 2022 occupation; it later resumed with USAID and Danish Development Assistance support. YouControl data showed 2025 revenue of Hr.1.9 billion and net profit of Hr.164.1 million.
Planeta Plastic took a direct hit; it said all employees were safe and damage was being assessed. Its Irpin plant burned almost completely in 2022, with estimated losses of $40 million. A new Irpin facility opened in September 2025, but operations were suspended indefinitely on Aug. 31 amid intensified Kyiv-region attacks. Its 2025 revenue was Hr.534.2 million, with a Hr.22.3 million net loss.
The strikes could affect employees and nearby residents. Damage to Ecosoft and Planeta Plastic may disrupt production and supply chains for water-treatment equipment and polymer goods, with knock-on effects for customers and local jobs. The broader missile and drone barrage, including damage to a Kyiv shopping center, may heighten safety fears and strain emergency services. Consumers and businesses reliant on these firms could face delays or higher costs if operations pause.
