TotalEnergies-KKR solar expansion, Grenergy Chile financing, and Captona-Nexamp investment lead renewables roundup

TotalEnergies and KKR are expanding their US solar joint venture by adding 700 MW across Texas and Ohio, valued around $1.2 billion, bringing the venture to about 2.1 GW. Grenergy obtained $457 million in senior financing for 446 MW of solar and roughly 1.8 GWh of battery storage in Chile. Captona made a preferred equity investment in Nexamp's 55 MW solar and 5 MWh battery portfolio across Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York.
TotalEnergies and KKR will add three utility-scale solar sites in Texas and Ohio to their equal US venture. The deal, worth about $1.2 billion, lifts the platform from 1.4 GW to roughly 2.1 GW; operation is targeted for early 2027.
Grenergy's $457 million non-recourse package supports 446 MW of solar and about 1.8 GWh of batteries in Chile, including Algarrobal and Palmas. Captona's preferred equity backs ten Nexamp projects totaling 55 MW and 5 MWh across Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York.
The expansions could add more solar and storage capacity in Texas, Ohio, Chile, and four US states, potentially improving grid reliability and supplying community solar customers. Local workforces and ratepayers may see construction activity and longer-term energy supply changes, though outcomes depend on permitting, contracts, and project completion. For communities near projects, land use and benefits may draw attention. Overall, the deals may modestly accelerate renewable deployment without guaranteeing immediate consumer price effects.
