Blacksmith reaches $1B valuation with Sequoia-led Series C

Blacksmith, a platform for building and testing software including AI-generated code, raised a $66 million Series C led by Sequoia at a $1 billion valuation. The company said annual recurring revenue grew 17x and that it has run more than 90 million CI jobs. The round comes two months after a $45 million Series B and brings total funding to $125 million.
Blacksmith sells software that helps organizations build, test, merge, and validate code changes more smoothly, including code produced by AI tools. CEO Aditya Jayaprakash said the startup was created to reduce the friction of continuous integration, noting that many firms now struggle with the amount of CI work they must handle.
The company reported 17x annual recurring revenue growth and more than 90 million automated code checks run. Mercury and Granola are named customers. The $66 million round, led by Sequoia, follows a $45 million Series B two months earlier at a $550 million valuation; a year ago Blacksmith was valued at $60 million after a $10 million Series A, bringing total funding to $125 million.
Faster, more reliable CI could affect software teams, customers, and people who rely on digital services. If AI-generated code becomes more common, tools that test and validate it may shape how much trust users place in software, while also changing workflows for developers and QA staff. Investors may direct more capital toward AI-adjacent developer infrastructure, potentially influencing which startups scale and which tools become standard.
