Australia picks 13 GW renewables zone developers as Indian firms advance solar and wind projects

South Australia selected four proposals for nearly 13 GW of wind and solar capacity west of Whyalla, including developments from Windlab, Altra Energy, Heron Energy, and Neoen. Truzon Clean Energies won a ₹236 crore EPC contract for 72 MW of ground-mounted solar projects in Maharashtra under PM-KUSUM Component C. Juniper Green Energy added 65.4 MW of wind capacity as part of a 200 MW hybrid project combining wind, solar, and batteries.
South Australia selected four proposals for almost 13 GW of wind and solar across about 3,300 square kilometres west of Whyalla. They include Windlab’s 6 GW plan, Altra Energy’s 4.7 GW bid, Heron Energy’s 1.6 GW wind project, and Neoen’s roughly 360 MW solar scheme. The Whyalla West release area lies on Barngarla Country; selection permits feasibility and licensing work, not construction or final investment approval.
Truzon Clean Energies secured a ₹236 crore EPC contract from Hariom Power & Energy for 72 MW of ground-mounted solar in Maharashtra under PM-KUSUM Component C. Juniper Green Energy added 65.4 MW of wind via Juniper Green Stellar, part of a 200 MW wind-solar-battery project.
The Australian selection may signal future clean-energy investment and grid planning around Whyalla, potentially affecting local landowners, First Nations communities, workers, and nearby industry as projects advance. In India, solar and wind additions could expand rural electricity supply, create construction and maintenance jobs, and support agricultural energy needs, though benefits depend on land use, grid readiness, and project timelines.
