Battery portfolio sale and wind, solar financing moves announced in Europe and Egypt

Greenvolt agreed to sell two Polish battery storage projects, each with 200 MW of power and 800 MWh of capacity, to A&R Investments for up to €391.5 million, with completion expected before the end of 2026. The EBRD committed up to $221 million in equity to Egypt Renewables Holdings, a Scatec platform targeting 2.7 GW of solar, 900 MW of wind and 4.2 GWh of storage, with Scatec holding 60% and the EBRD 40%. Alcazar Energy secured about $437 million in long-term financing for two 250 MW wind farms near Ras Ghareb in Egypt, part of an estimated $580 million investment.
Greenvolt’s Polish deal covers the Ełk and Turośń Kościelna battery sites, each rated at 200 MW and 800 MWh. The price combines €311.5 million fixed with as much as €80 million tied to grid-balancing permissions; both facilities finished in Q3 2026 and hold 17-year capacity-market agreements from 2028, with Statkraft handling optimisation.
In Egypt, the EBRD’s equity stake in Scatec’s platform supports a 2.7 GW solar, 900 MW wind and 4.2 GWh storage pipeline, starting with interests in four named projects. Separately, Alcazar’s two 250 MW wind farms near Ras Ghareb are backed by roughly $437 million in long-term financing and are expected to produce over 2.3 TWh yearly under 25-year supply contracts.
The Polish storage sale may help bring flexible capacity into a grid that needs balancing as renewables grow, potentially affecting electricity reliability and local employment around the two sites. In Egypt, the Scatec platform and Alcazar wind financing could expand generation and storage, possibly improving supply for households and businesses while creating construction and operations work. Benefits may depend on project delivery, grid connections and how far added power reaches consumers.
